Nonlinear waves in pantographic beams induced by transverse impulses

We present and discuss the results of some numerical simulations dealing with wave motion in one-dimensional pantographic media, also known as beams. Specifically, analysis is carried out large displacements regime beams are modeled by using a completely discrete approach. Nonlinear vibrations induced transversal impulse studied. A simple yet efficient time-stepping scheme was used to reconstruct and, consequently, explore propagation strain waves medium. The study concludes that main features observed extremely useful toward understanding dynamic behavior micro-structure its continuum counterparts.
